Good quality, nice shape Jan 02, 2007
By K. Zimmers I purchased the Rochester Men's Shoe Tree in medium for my size 10 shoes after an extensive on-line search for a tree that would first do the job well and second do it at a good price. I found that there wasn't a lot good of choices and I also realized that these seem pricy to me, I was going to have to pay to get the quality necessary to take good care of my shoes.
I was hesitant to purchase these due to the lack of reviews and because my shoe size is at the very edge of the recommended range for medium. I went ahead and ordered one set to check them out and then if I liked them I would return to buy more. In short, I'm back now to purchase more because I've found that these are an excellent tree for the money.
The Rochester tree provides a natural shape in both the toe and heel as well as automatically adjusting in width and length to fit the shoe well. Shape is very important for shoe trees because your shoes will take that shape while they are stored with the trees. In comparing the Rochester tree to one purchased from a well known men's clothing chain, the Rochester heel piece is much wider and therefore provides a much more accurate rounded shape in comparison to the other brand's heel which was narrow and give the heel of the shoe an unnaturally pointed shape.
The handle cut into the wood heel piece is solid and is very helpful in removing the tree. In general, the tree is obviously of good quality and I expect them to last for many years. The medium size was a good fit for my sizes 10 shoes and my thought is that there is probably enough cross over in the sizing to not worry about it much.
I recommend these trees over others and Amazon has the best price when considering the free shipping

Good trees but a bit small Apr 21, 2007

I wear a 9 and ordered medium. They don't fill out the entire front of the shoe. I keep them in a pair of shoes in a locker at work so they are absolutely fine for that and that is why they got 3 stars. Maybe the large would have been better...but it's only a 9 shoe.
If you want to keep the creases out of your shoes or stretch them get "the next size up" or get something else.

FOREPART NOT HIGH ENOUGH Nov 16, 2010
By A. Falcon These highly aromatic shoe trees fill the width of the shoe satisfactorily. However, because the forepart is low, it doesn't exert sufficient pressure against the vamp (upper part of shoe). Barely contoured, it looks virtually flat. In a size large, it measures 1.75" from top to bottom at the highest point. My other shoe trees, on the other hand, are 2" high at the same spot.
The objective is to smooth out the wrinkles in the leather, but when the vamp is not completely filled, this won't happen. My shoes developed deep creases despite the use of these shoe trees. It's not advisable to go up one size, as the shoes will likely overstretch at the width.
Since they inadequately fulfill one of their most important functions, these shoe trees are not recommended.

ok, but.. Oct 21, 2007

After fast shipping I received two pairs of these shoe trees. Quality looks ok, only one but..
I have serval Italian made shoes which are pretty narrow at the front. And these shoe trees do not fit in those shoes. Therefore, I need to find another shoe tree which do fit in these type of shoes. So good for standard shoes, not for narrow shoes.

Sizing is a little off Jul 06, 2007
By Monika Matthews I went by the sizing displayed, but the one I got was too big. I a lso don't like how t here's no way to keep the toe part from spreading width wise. I'd rather just stretch forward a bit.
