Great Productivity Display Dec 25, 2007
By Olin Gay I got this monitor for a home-office setup, not for movie watching or the like. There are fewer and fewer 4:3 options in LCDs, and this monitor is ideal for a dual-setup (I am ordering the second one shortly after Christmas). After almost 2 months, the display has been flawless, with plenty of settings and zero dead pixels. I would recommend the monitor to anyone looking for a great dual-screen setup or just the 4:3 aspect w/DVI.

Not every 19" LCD has the same quality Dec 13, 2007
By AZ This is not one of the cheapest LCD of its size. But it worth the money. I chose it because it is brighter and smoother.
It is easy to adjust the brightness, several pre-settings and a fine tune. Very easy to use.
I used it as an extension to my laptop. I can rotate it when I read articles in pdf files.

New Monitor Nov 07, 2007
By H. Alm I bought this because it was highly recommended by Consumer Reports. Also, there were a number of positive reviews on Newegg and other places. Boy, was I excited. Once installed, though, I was no longer happy. It was much brighter than my SyncMaster and rendered type, which I stare at all day long, in a fragmented, less-than-smooth, ugly way. I don't know, maybe there's a way to fix the type. I tried everything I knew, but got basically the same results. A couple of hours later, I gave up and donated it to someone who mostly views images. The bottom line for me is that this does not render type well. By the way, if someone out there knows what the problem is, I'd love to hear from them.
A Disappointing Monitor Jun 12, 2011
By cloudsandskye My Samsung SyncMaster 940BX computer monitor is about 3 ½ years old. It was repaired twice under warranty and now it has failed for the third time. Unfortunately, the warranty expired in January and the cost to repair it is about $80, which doesn't seem worth it given the history of this monitor. For a cost of $240, I expected a high quality, reliable product, but instead it turned out to be low quality and unreliable. I just wanted to let you know what a disappointment this monitor was, especially given that it was well reviewed by Consumer Reports and customers at newegg.com.

Disappointed! Nov 27, 2007
By David Hammond
"not even a nerd"
I bought a factory-refurbished one of these based on excellent reviews in several places. I wanted it for photo editing on a limited budget. I especially wanted a 4:3 aspect screen because that's the best for most photos. This seemed to be just what I wanted.
Now I've disconnected it and reinstalled my dependable 15 incher. Many times over the past few months, the monitor does what I can only describe as "flashing". This happens unpredictably and not continuously. It's blinding and a bit scary but I usually have to continue what I was doing or lose it. (Also the Natural Color feature doesn't want to work on my Dell for no particular reason.)
