Fantastic value and a great monitor. Dec 27, 2006
By David

This monitor is an absolutely incredible value for the price. Cheap, great picture, top notch color, all the quality and speed you'd expect from a Samsung LCD monitor, and a really attractive design that looks great on your desk.
My only hesitation is that I think the ideal wide screen monitor is a couple inches larger than this (I use a 22" widescreen at work), but I just couldn't resist the price of this beauty when replacing my NEC MultiSync 17" CRT monitor at home (which was a very good monitor as well in it's day with great color).
You'll definitely want to drop the brightness level on this Samsung though as the default factory setting is pretty hard on the eyes.
I'm using the DVI connection and recommend you do the same if at all possible - DVI really helps sharpen up LCD's.
If your wallet is feeling a little thick lately, I'd get Samsung's 22", but otherwise you'll still be thrilled with this monitor.

Pleased Apr 04, 2007
By Paul Houck I looked for about a month and a half looking for the best flat screen moniter at a reasonable price. I looked various places online and at box stores. I found this with the rebate to be a great deal!! This included looking at various reviews and prior customer comments. I am extremely pleased with the performance it has provided. I started by looking at regular flat screen monitors but was happy to find this widescreen. The brightness issue some have mentioned is not a problem for me but I suspect those who have play games without the lights on. Then it may seem too bright. I would recommend this to anyone!

Tremendous Value - Used on new Macbook Sep 01, 2007
By Mark Twain I am using this monitor with my new Macbook. I figured since law school will require lots of research, extending my desktop a bit would be wise. So far I have used the extra space to arrange calendar events with work, ran multiple internet browsers at once, arranged files on my hard-drives, and completed a research project with word and safari. The monitor is plug & play. It does not come with a $30 cord, regardless, it's still the best. On Macbooks you need a mini-dvi to dvi-d converter, and you can get them online here at Amazon, but make sure you order it from the United States for shipping length purposes. Also, the cord that runs from that converter to the monitor need only be 3 feet unless you're working with an unusual amount of distance between your monitor and your notebook. I have no experience running from a desktop, but then a 6 ft. cord should be effective but you'll want to measure and please buy it online, it's a dvi-D cable. And you need a double-male headed cord, because if you don't then it won't fit. That's all you need, and sold for an incredible price. When I started using computers regularly, at age 13, a monitor like this a) wasn't around; and b) was out of this universe expensive when it finally was available. You wouldn't have scoffed to see this monitor priced for $2000, 6 years ago. A flat-screen saves a tremendous amount of space than the old tube-monitors; and wide-screen essentially adds another workable document into the concurrent tasking situation. On my computer, I can extend my desktop, or I can have mirrored desktops. The resolution is very good, too. Macbook users won't have to worry about any weird resolution as indicated by other reviews. Take my word, you'll be fine, but if you're doing insane graphic stuff you should do hard research on screen resolutions; thankfully I am not. The operating system in Macbook handles everything automatically. You don't need to figure anything else out. For laptop users, this machine gives the best of both worlds: the portability of a laptop; the screen-size of a desktop. Used with an external mouse, you can create a fantastic work station, nothing more. It has its own A/C plug because it is not powered from the computer itself, so you should making room on your surge protector for this one!
Negatives: 1) Does not come with $30 cable; 2) requires a dvi-d converter for many laptops; 3) doesn't adjust height/angle; 4) not a glossy screen.
Still the best.

Great Monitor... Great Price! Can't Go Wrong! Mar 11, 2007

This has got to be one of the best and most fairly priced LCD monitors you can purchase. I'm using mine now to write this review and have to testify... the data/colors are crystal clear and sharp. Looked at the previous model (940BW) at Sam's Club Warehouse and it was selling for much more than this one, (which I purchased from Amazon.com. Even took them up on the "Super Saver Free Shipping"). This unit is almost identical, but the newer version/new model. Very well built and very user friendly. Loaded drivers CD, which came with it, and was ready to go. Comes with all the cords, etc., everything you're going to need.
Great buy! You can't go wrong.

Excellent for watching movies May 21, 2007
By Sasidhar Padmanabhuni

i am using this from last 2 months and i liked it very much.
Like all LCD monitors this works only with 1440x900, so if your desktop/laptop does not support this resolution, then its useless(the pictures and text will be fuzzy). Before buying make sure your laptop/desktop is new enough to support this resolution.
i am using this montor with IBM T43, HP dv 1000 laptops and it worked with out any installation of drivers. Once connected to laptop if signal does not come try changing the resolution to 1440x900
Pros
Best Picture/Text quality
Value for money
Cons
Height can not be adjusted
